examining doctor

The most difficult about writing a weekly blog, is not achieving 200 words, it's not finding a good subject, but it's putting the first sentence on the empty page.

I already thought about writing a blog about examining doctors, but I wasn't sure if I could find enough information about the topic. But this week there were 2 reason for writing about doctor audits. The first reason: in Social law class we treaded the subject. Secondly there's a possibility my mom gets an audit one of these days.

If an employee is too ill to work the doctor can pescribe some days off. This means the employer has to pay a fee to his employee even thoug the employee isn't ill. But when the employer doubts about the accuracy of the prescription he can ask for an audit. Another doctor comes visit the employee. When this doctor decides the employee isn't ill enough to stay home, the doctor gives a negative advice. This means the employee should get back to work.

On the one handle I can understand an employer wants to be sure his employee is ill before he pays the fee. Because it would be a huge cost if he has to pay fees to employees who aren't legally absent. On the other it should be unnecessary to organize a second control because a doctor should only prescribe days off if it's really necessary. And if every doctor writes his prescriptions honourable, doctor audits are no longer required.

  1. I think it's good they can do this kind of audit. We all know a lot of students get "sick" during the year. Especially when there's a test coming up.. This is one of the reasons why we can't trust a "real" doctor. Most of the time, there isn't an audit, or some kind of control. So doctors can do what they want. Adults can get this as well, for example when they know their doctor very well. I think there should be more audits like this. But who am I?

  2. Well done Julie Boonefaes, you listened very well in the lesson of social law. Thank you to repeat this!
On the one hand I agree with the opinion of Julie Seys. It’s a good idea to do this audit because many people do this.
On the other hand, I’m a student and I like it when the doctor prescribe a letter which shows that you’re ill when you aren’t ill. I’ve never done this before but it’s nice.
Okay it’s clear that this kind of audit should also be done in school.
